My Father Vladek a survivor of the Holocaust, Lived life in Poland during the war, Given army training taken as a prisoner and escaped, Sosnowiec his home became a ghetto, He was crafty for survival, Hunted scraps of food, Pretending to be a German, Trying to sneak him and his wife Anja away from Poland, But he was betrayed, He always stayed outgoing and brave, Though his life was crazy, Frightened, he never left Anja or cheated, He never needed a friend but God, He worked hard in a factory, to make a comfortable home, The shootings Halts! Slams and police, Made him stronger in the end, Given another day he saw beauty in life, He Prayed for peace for the city, But trouble always came back Surprised tears rolled down from his eyes, He had to get up and fight to stay alive, He couldn't become a skeleton walking dead, This would all blow over in the end, They took my possessions, siblings, identity, parents They won't take my soul alive, This was the final solution, I will fight till I die,
The way I designed this poem came easy to me . I flipped through the pages in Maus and watched the Movie from The Last Days and wrote down the words that were bold and stuck out to me and seemed important to the story. The theme I chose to write about was strength. Vladek shows this throughout the book. He was unwilling to give up and kept on overcoming every obstacle that he and his family faced.Vladek was the man who kept his family fighting, he was the light at the end of the tunnel and the one who always had a way out of every fearful situation from the start until the end. Without Vladek his family members might have not been able to survive for as long as they did. For example His in-laws were very wealthy and lived comfortably before the Holocaust but when it was taken away from them it affected them deeply.

Given army training taken as a prisoner and escaped,
Sosnowiec his home became a ghetto,

Trying to sneak him and his wife Anja away from Poland,
